Victorian Nationals seek referendum on country fluoridation.

“The Victorian National party has adopted a new policy that would ensure a referendum before the introduction of fluoride to country Victorian drinking water. Victorian Nationals' water resources spokesman, Peter Walsh, said the state should not be forcing fluoridation on communities that do not want it.” Said Therese Mackay President of the Hastings Safe Water association.

“We commend the Victorian Nationals and hope that their democratic stance on Fluoridation will be taken up by NSW Nationals and indeed Federal Nationals. Said Therese Mackay

Ms Walsh who said his Party's new policy would require a referendum by the Victorian Electoral Commission before fluoride could be introduced said, "The majority of people if they are given the correct information will make a sound logical choice."

“Now in Victoria one political party has finally had the courage to uphold the rights of the people to choose. Hopefully here on the Mid North Coast and in the rest of NSW all the National members will follow suit.” Said Therese Mackay
